To use Live Text in a video on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 17, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure Live Text is enabled: Go to Settings > General > Language & Region, and ensure Live Text is turned on.

  2. Launch the Camera app: Swipe left on the lock screen to access the Camera, or find the Camera app on your home screen.

  3. Position your device: Point the camera at the video playing on a screen or surface containing the text you want to interact with.

  4. Identify detected text: A yellow frame should appear around the recognized text.

  5. Interact with the text: Once the text is identified, tap the "Live Text" button in the lower right corner of the viewfinder. You'll see the "live" text floating on top of the viewfinder. From here, you can:

    • Copy: Tap 'Copy' to paste the text into another app, such as Notes or Messages.
    • Select All: Tap 'Select All' to select all the text within the frame.
    • Look Up: Perform web searches related to the selected text.
    • Translate: Translate the selected text into another language.
    • Share: Share the text using AirDrop or through various messaging services.
  6. Read aloud the text: For auditory feedback, enable Speak Screen or Speak Selection under Accessibility > Spoken Content in the Settings app. Then, after selecting the text in the Camera app, activate Speak Screen by swiping down from the top of the screen, and the device will read the text aloud.

Please note that Live Text functionality might vary depending on the region and language settings. Also, keep in mind that while Live Text can identify text within a video, it may not provide real-time interaction due to the nature of video playback.
