California has granted approval to Chinese autonomous vehicle company WeRide to test its driverless vehicles with passengers. This permit, valid for three years, allows WeRide to operate in San Jose and nearby areas with both manned and unmanned test vehicles, but it does not permit the company to offer rides to the general public or charge fares.
