To use transcripts on Apple Podcasts, follow these steps:
- Ensure you have updated your device to iOS 17.4 or later, which supports transcripts for Apple Podcasts.
- Open the Apple Podcasts app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Find a podcast episode with available transcripts (English, French, German, or Spanish languages are supported).
- Play the episode, and locate the speech bubble icon at the bottom-left corner of the fullscreen media playback screen.
- Tap the speech bubble to view the auto-generated transcript.
- The transcript will scroll and highlight the text currently being spoken as the episode plays. You can manually scroll through the transcript and tap on a sentence to jump to that point in the podcast.
- To search for a specific word or phrase within the transcript, tap the Search button at the bottom of the screen.
- If you want to access transcripts from the Up Next section in the Home tab, press and hold a podcast episode to reveal the "View Transcript" option in the dropdown menu.
- Alternatively, if you're on the episode details page, tap the ellipsis (three dots) button top-right to reveal the "View Transcript" option.
Please note that transcripts are not available for all episodes immediately, as Apple is adding them over time for back catalog episodes. Podcasters also have the option to provide their own transcripts or edit the auto-generated ones through RSS tags or in Apple Podcasts Connect.
